
Liability Coverages
Michigan law requires owners and operators of cars and trucks licensed for road use to carry these specific mandatory coverages. This is commonly referred to as No-Fault Auto Insurance.
Bodily Injury Coverage (BI)
• Limits: You select
• Pays for: Bodily injury to others
Property Protection Insurance Coverage (PPI)
• Limits: $1,000,000
• Pays for: Damage to others’ property Inside Michigan Only
Property Damage Coverage (PD)
• Limits: You select
• Pays for: Damage to others’ property Outside Michigan Only
Personal Injury Protection Coverage (PIP)
• Limits: Unlimited Medical
• Pays for:
- Bodily injury to you, resident family members and in certain circumstances non-family/ non-resident passengers of your vehicle
- Medical Expenses (reasonable and necessary)
- Funeral Expenses*
- Work Loss Benefits*
- Survivors Loss Benefits*
- Replacement Services*
* Subject to specific limits
Collision Coverage
It provides coverage for your vehicle if it is damaged due to a collision with another vehicle or object.
There are three options for Collision Coverage:
Broad Form
• Covers vehicle repairs: Regardless of fault
• Deductible: Only if you are at fault
Standard Collision
• Covers vehicle repairs: Regardless of fault
• Deductible: Always
Limited Collision
• Covers vehicle repairs: Only if you are not at fault
• Deductible: None
Comprehensive Coverage
(Other than Collision Coverage) Covers damages to your vehicle caused by risks such as:
- Theft of your vehicle
- Vandalism
- Impact with an animal
- Fire or water
- Flying/falling objects
- Glass damage
This coverage is subject to your deductible
Optional Liability Coverages
Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM)
• Limits: You select
• Pays for: Bodily injury to you if you are involved in an accident with a liable uninsured motorist.
Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UIM)
• Limits: You select
• Pays for: Bodily injury to you if you are involved in an accident with a liable motorist without enough Bodily Injury Coverage.
Limited Property Damage (Mini Tort)
• Limits: $1,000 per vehicle
• Coverage: Only if you are at fault and the damage to the other driver’s vehicle is not covered by their own policy
• Pays for: Damage to another driver’s vehicle for which you become legally responsible because of an auto accident occurring in Michigan.
